The BROLGA Mentor Program is an online Short Course to provide Mentors with the knowledge and tools to effectively mentor participants during the BROLGA Program in collaboration with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural mentors, community, government, professional and academic staff from CQUniversity.
Designed for Indigenous student’s Year 5–12, the BROLGA program is a mix of on-campus and ‘on country’ learning experiences that increase student connections and provides a brief understanding of some aspects of CQUniversity, community, government, and culture.
Students will be culturally empowered, become familiar with the CQUniversity campus, and apply the concept of ‘on country’ as a platform for cultural conversations and connection activities that strengthen student understandings of opportunities and the importance of personal goals. The program reflects career education. Students will recognise the significance of country, culture, and community and apply the elements of being an effective volunteer in the community.
Duration: 16 hours
Upon successful completion of the course, students will have met the requirements to be a Mentor for the BROLGA Program and be awarded 16 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours and a CQUniversity Certificate of Completion.
