ST★R Online provides the pre-workshop elearning modules required to complete before attending the RFDS STAR 2-Day Programme - Essential Aspects of Aeromedical Retrieval.
The course includes theoretical aspects of patient care in the retrieval environment, retrieval medicine and patient transport considerations. It outlines case studies and examples which will be further explored at the intensive 2-day live workshop.
- Gain an understanding of the historical perspectives of aeromedical retrieval medicine
- Outline considerations in retrieval medicine, including aviation physiology and the effect on patients, crew, and equipment, aviation considerations, modes of transport, resource provision and patient safety
- Describe the considerations and clinical management of special populations including the cardiac, bariatric, obstetric, paediatric, trauma, and disturbed patient in the retrieval setting
- Outline the key elements of hazard and scene safety in aeromedical retrieval, including human factors and situational awareness in unfamiliar settings.
